DESIGNArlington Awards

Congratulations to our clients Architecture Inc, Bonstra Haresign and Wiedemann Architects for their winning projects in the inaugural DESIGNArlington '09 Awards.

Architecture Inc was recognized for their Washington Capitals/Kettler Iceplex & Training Center design. The facility includes 2 full size NHL ice rinks, a 20,000sf training center and 28,000sf of corporate office space, which was built on top of an existing 7-story parking garage adjacent to Ballston Mall.

The Shelton, designed by Bonstra Haresign Architects, is one of the first components of the revitalization effort in the Nauck community of the Shirlington area. The multi-family residential building includes an inviting interior courtyard, ground floor retail and fulfills AHC's mission to bring affordable housing to Arlington with a high level of design.

The McGlone Residence was designed by Wiedemann Architects. Arlington County sponsored the awards program to recognize and encourage design excellence and sought to capture the County's architectural diversity.

Last evening Judy Davis presented her current portfolio to a group of peers at the annual ASMP DC chapter program "8x10: Eight Members/Ten Minutes". After serving on the Chapter Board from 2000-2004, Judy was honored to return to friendly faces and colleagues where she revealed what she's been shooting since then. The images that garnered the best reaction were the before and after of Arlington's Davis Place exterior, highlighting extensive retouching requested by the clients, AHC Inc and Cunningham Quill Architects.
